The inspiration behind the Water For Life campaign stems from the fundamental truth that water is the lifeblood of all organisms on our planet. From humans to plants, every living being relies heavily on water for survival. The campaign seeks to remind us of this fact and the urgent need to conserve and protect our water resources.
What sets this campaign apart is its unique approach to visual storytelling. Han uses images of splashes and droplets to create striking illustrations of a bird, a tree, a ladybug, a butterfly, and a jellyfish. These images serve as a powerful reminder of how water is integral to all forms of life. The campaign has been successful in drawing attention to the importance of water conservation, thanks to its innovative and captivating design.
The poster campaign was designed using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and was displayed on digital signages. The technical specifications of the design are a width of 841mm and a height of 1189mm. The posters were displayed outdoors, on billboards, and other screen media, creating a continuum of moving images that led viewers to the campaign's message.
The project, which started in April 2015 and concluded in October 2016, was showcased at the Pratt Show in New York in May 2011. The design process involved a mix of pictures, each containing splash water images. These images were transformed using Photoshop and Illustrator to create the illusion of living creatures, emphasizing the importance of water to all life forms.
The Water For Life campaign faced the challenge of highlighting the increasing issue of water pollution and its environmental implications. Despite these challenges, the campaign succeeded in its mission to educate and enlighten people about the importance of water conservation. The campaign's success was recognized when it was awarded the Silver A' Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design Award in 2019.
In conclusion, Seokwon Han's Water For Life campaign is a testament to the power of design in raising awareness about critical environmental issues. Through its innovative use of images and compelling narrative, the campaign has succeeded in drawing attention to the importance of water conservation and the need to protect this precious resource for future generations.
